In 2077, Japan chooses to succeed from the United Nations after a decade of secrecy. The reason? Fearing that robotic technology was advancing too fast, the U.N. ordered that all further research be suspended until further notice.
But what the U.N. didn’t realize is that Japan was on the verge of a major breakthrough and for the last ten years, they’ve been hiding a very powerful secret indeed!
This is Vexille, one of the latest releases from FUNimation Entertainment and what a watch it is! Taking robotic evolution to the ultimate extreme, Japan has discovered a way to mutate humans into a biological-robot hybrid, courtesy of Diawa Robotics. Once the mutation is complete, there is no “humanness” left and the robotic shell becomes a servant of none other than Diawa itself.
Enter Vexille, a member of SWORD, an American special forces unit and the mission is on. Vexille and her team are asked to sneak into the impenetrable Japan and find out what’s behind that electronic wall that keeps even the satellites from peeking in. But what Vexille discovers is that there are literally no humans left and if she and a small group of rebels can’t take Diawa down, the rest of the world just might suffer the same fate!
